Project description:

The EU project Alp-Water-Scarce analyses water supply and water demand in alpine regions under changing climate conditions. Modelling and integration of relevant stakeholders should contribute to an integrated water-management system, including an early warning system for water scarcity. The subproject of the Federal Institute of Agricultural Economics covers the agricultural part and analyses detailed agricultural data for pilot regions as a base for modelling. Also existing agricultural policy measures will be analysed concerning their effects on water demand of agriculture. On the basis of model results of the EU project recommendations for adaptation of agriculture to changing climate conditions and for mitigation of water scarcity will be made.
